Last week we held our second annual Give Back Day. We take time on this day to stop brewery operations, close our Beer Hall & Kitchen, and put our collective effort directly back into our community. We’ve always felt the desire for Jack’s Abby to be a positive force in the world, from the many charities and non-profits we’ve supported over the years to the events we’ve participated in directly. Give Back Day is one more way that we express our desire to leave the world a better place than we’ve found it: it’s more important than our day-to-day.
Last year we supported United Way by hosting a drive for hygiene products and packing them into personal care kits. Being our first year, we learned some important lessons about the force of our group’s effort: we spent the afternoon cleaning up the neighborhood around the brewery once we’d finished packing the kits.
This year we’re supporting Daniel’s Table, a Framingham organization that fights food insecurity through innovative food programming. We prepped, cooked, packaged, and froze holiday sides to be distributed to communal freezers throughout the community. This turned our entire Beer Hall & Kitchen into prep stations to create meals that will feed 1,200 people in our community throughout the holiday season.
“We love being part of the Framingham community! Framingham has embraced us and we enjoy every opportunity we get to show that love back. Daniel’s Table does amazing work addressing food insecurity in our community and we are thrilled to be able to help support their work.” – Sam Hendler, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Jack’s Abby
There were plenty of learnings this year too – luckily brewery canning line operators can transfer their knowledge to a food sealer!! – but we were so excited to get together and put in the work.
“We are so grateful for this partnership this Thanksgiving season! What a wonderful opportunity to work with Jack’s Abby to provide our neighbors In Need with such high quality sides dishes for their holiday meal! Because of your generosity, not only will our families bellies be full, but so will their spirits!” – Sandra Montesino, Executive Team Member at Jack’s Abby
