SHIPPING OUT SERIES 2021

Hello, I am Rob Day and this is Shipping Out! That’s how we introduce each video so it felt appropriate to start at that same place for this blog.
Shipping Out is a perpetual series that we launched in 2021 with a simple mission. Let’s share incredible stories of manufacturing here in Massachusetts over a beer. Massachusetts was a hotbed of manufacturing for most of its history. However, with globalization much of that slipped away leaving husks of buildings and a hole in our story.
That all started to change over the past 20 – 30 years or so as making things came back into style. Breweries have been a big part of that as many of us occupy the hallowed ground of previous manufacturing plants to create our craft. Jack’s Abby exists in a former Dennison plant right here in Framingham. This entire block was a manufacturing powerhouse for some time complete with powerplant. We are privileged to carry on that history in our home.
But this story is not about us. This is about all of the makers and shakers out there in the state. The more we dig, the more we find and the stories are fascinating. Our goal is to keep exploring these people and places that turn the gears of goods in our state. The 2021 season was a little sparse with COVID restrictions, but we were able to explore 3 incredible companies: Zildjian, DetraPel and Todder.
We’re extremely grateful for these companies who shared their stories with us last year, and excited to tell new stories this year. We believe this is a message that matters and we hope you all enjoy the ride.
