We are celebrating our dedicated staff with a 5-Year Anniversary Beer Program. Staff will be a part of the entire brewing process from recipe development, brewing, naming, and label design. The final products will be shared in our our Beer Hall as Beer Hall Exclusives for everyone to enjoy! Learn more about the first beer in the program OGs with Bad Knees below.
When asked why the OG Sales Team brewed this beer Rob G said, “Pilsner was the style that first attracted me to lagers in my mid-twenties. I love how Pilsner can play the main character, supporting role, or even an extra in my various activities or moods. It’s truly my favorite style of beer. But when I had a chance to brew a beer with my friends I wanted us all to be able to put our fingerprints on this one. The three of us really enjoy Pilsner as well as dark beer. Why not combine the two and have fun with some esoteric French hops?”
The group sat down to think about the name and design for their beer and decided to play into their years of experience by making older versions of themselves still enjoying a great beer. Rob G. said, “Let’s face it, while we might not be old geezers yet, we aren’t as young as we were when we first started slinging beer. And our knees don’t miss a chance at reminding us!”
We asked the group about their favorite memories from their time at Jack’s Abby:
Rob Gonzales, Senior Manager of Brewery Partnerships
I have so many amazing memories throughout the years that it makes it hard to pick a favorite. My “Work Family” has given me so many great memories over time that include holiday parties, sponsored live music events, beer festivals, Give Back Days, anniversary parties, Sales & Marketing Conferences, and many more. As I think about this, I realize that my favorite memories are the ones when we are able to get together as a company or at least as a large group. Some have been to celebrate milestones and big wins, and some have been to celebrate the lives of our fellow co-workers after their passing. I suppose that my favorite memories are and always will be the ones created when we come together through thick and thin, good and bad.
Matt Ozelius, Market Manager for MA & RI
There are so many memories from working with this team, but I’m gonna highlight our first (and only) overnight sales conference we took. We rented Bill McGinley’s house in Maine and just spend 3 days drinking too much, playing all sorts of random games and discussing the launch of Springdale as a brand into the market, how Jack’s Abby will continue to move forward and so many other things. Joe fell asleep only to get startled away singing Ja Rule, me and Cam trying to catch munchkins thrown from the 2nd floor in our mouths, dinner at the best gas station I’ve had dinner at, We also ran out of beds so I slept on the floor somewhere. Good times!
John Spillane, Regional Sales Manager NY, NJ, and CT
Echoing Oz, that sales and marketing retreat was hands down one of my favorite memories. Joe waking up with a “It’s murdaaaa”, breakfast by Sam, (in addition to the donuts) Cam catching a whole clementine, peel and all, in his mouth.
OGs With Bad Knees is available in our Beer Hall, while supplies last!
