Co-Owner and Brewer Jack Hendler says “Hi I’m Jack from Jack’s Abby and I’m super excited to announce the return of Kiwi Rising- our favorite Double IPL brewed with all New Zealand hops. This beer clocks in at 8.5% so it’s a very strong beer, a very hoppy beer, and we use an increasing quantity of hops in every single hop addition throughout the brewing process- from bittering to flavor to whirl to dry hops and that’s how the beer got its name.
Big aromatics, big flavor, nice hazy golden color- it’s a tasty bitter beer. This beer almost has a raw hop character to it and there’s a bit of a wine note to it, a bit of a citrus note to it, and then just an overall piney hoppy floral character that blends all those flavors together.
This beer was really a freak accident- our first year in business we had huge problems sourcing hops and one of our hop suppliers was like, ‘why don’t you try these cool hops from New Zealand,’ and we said, ‘sure, we’ll take those hops and see what we can do.‘ So we brewed this beer and it became instantly popular. What we didn’t realize was they were in such limited quantities we could only supply them this time of year- November December- so get it while you can. It’s always going to be fresh, always going to be fantastic.”
