We are in the process of holding a competition at the brewery. Last month Jack, his two assistant brewers, Mike and Matt, and Dan Eng from Barleycorn’s, each were in charge of aging Smoke & Dagger in a wood barrel. They each had a $40 budget to buy any ingredients they wanted to add to the barrel. The barrels are the same ones we used for our Barrel Aged Saxonator.
The four barrels are:
- Szechuan pepper
- Almond and ground coconut
- Maple bacon, maple syrup, and bourbon
- Cranberry, ginger, pistachio, cherrywood smoked malt, chocolate, coffee, hot pepper
You will be able to try the results at the British Beer Company in Framingham, Jan 30th, at 6pm. Sample paddles with all four varieties will be available along with a scorecard to pick a winner. You can also come to the brewery from Thursday the 31st to Saturday the 2nd to try the beers and cast your vote.
