Bourque’s Brew: A Beer That Celebrates Greatness On and Off the Ice
When great beer meets great community, something special happens. This fall, Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers has teamed up with Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque and Legal Sea Foods to launch Bourque’s Brew — a crisp, easy-drinking Golden Lager that celebrates teamwork, craftsmanship, and New England pride.
Origin Story: A Collaboration Built on Craft and Community
The story of Bourque’s Brew began with a shared connection. Our Jack’s Abby team had an existing relationship with Legal Sea Foods through previous collaborations. When the opportunity arose to connect with Ray Bourque and the Bourque Family Foundation, the partnership came together naturally, united by a shared love of community, excellence, and good beer.
Together, our teams envisioned a beer that would be as refreshing as a victory lap around the rink — a crisp Golden Lager brewed to pair perfectly with fresh seafood or a rinkside hot dog.
We prepared the first batch for draft purchase in January at Legal Sea Foods. We also brewed and packaged small batches to support special events for the Bourque Family Foundation like the 7.7K Run this spring. Bourque’s Brew was met with such enthusiasm that expanding the beer’s reach felt like the next logical step.
Now, following that success, Bourque’s Brew officially launched in September 2025 and is available year-round in 16-oz cans at select retailers and on draft at Legal Sea Foods locations across New England.
A Lager with Purpose
Beyond its smooth taste and pale-gold hue, Bourque’s Brew carries a deeper mission. Every sip supports the Bourque Family Foundation, helping fund programs that enrich the lives of children and families through education, health, and wellness.
“Bourque’s Brew represents what we love most about this region—community, teamwork, and great beer,” said Sam Hendler of Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers. “It’s brewed with care, designed to be approachable, and crafted to bring people together, just as Ray Bourque has done for decades.”
Since its founding eight years ago, the Foundation has raised over $2 million, backing causes like after-school programs, ALS-related charities, Alzheimer’s research, and community health initiatives across Massachusetts and beyond. Jack’s Abby and Legal Sea Foods are also proud to have contributed $30,000 to the Foundation thus far and expect far more in the future with the recent retail launch of Bourque’s Brew.
While Ray Bourque was excited to see his name on the can, it’s the potential impact to the community that he values most in the partnership, as he said “Bourque’s Brew is more than just a beer — it’s a way for fans and neighbors to make a difference with every pour. We’re proud that it reflects our family’s values and supports causes close to our hearts.”
Raising a Glass with Our Partners
To kick off this exciting new chapter, Jack’s Abby hosted an exclusive event in October introducing Bourque’s Brew to wholesale and retail partners. Attendees got a first taste of the beer, learned about the Foundation’s impact, and shared in the excitement of bringing this meaningful brew to shelves across New England.
We’re excited to get Bourque’s Brew into the hands of craft beer fans and Bruins fans alike, and expect to share the experience at future Foundation events. From its roots in local collaboration to its mission of giving back, Bourque’s Brew is a beer that truly celebrates greatness—on and off the ice. Whether you’re enjoying it with seafood at Legal Sea Foods, picking up a four-pack at your local retailer, or toasting with friends at the rink, every pour helps make a positive impact in the community.
